Pines auditorium is a UK based casual wear brand, influenced by an upbringing in both Leeds and London that hopes to bridge a gap between high quality, honest clothing whilst always keeping a realistic price point. I didn’t go to fashion school, and I am not going to pretend I have a sole focus or inspiration for our aesthetic, a lot of our garments don’t have a hidden story and I design freely with a fleeting thought process of creative trial and error. I am still trying to understand and work on what may be our message, and I look forward to finding out. My aim, at this point, is simple; to create the best clothes I can, using the best fabrics I can at a fair price.

Alongside creating honest products, we want to continually support charitable organisations we care about, whether that is via donating a portion of the profits on a release, or designing a garment with the sole intention of raising funds. We recognise the potential we have in helping these causes, and will be moving forward with it being an integral part of the brand.

Understandably, because fashion is one of the most exploitative and wasteful industries in the world, many people would be eager to know the countries of origin of our garments and how we source, sew and transport them to the UK, along with the organisations our factories are signed up to in order to maintain the highest standards of working conditions and sustainability. Below, via incredible illustrations by Leggy Gordon (@leggy.didi.art), is the journey of our garments from start to finish.

Upon arrival in Nottingham, the neck labels are sewn in and the garments are sent down to East London, where they are screen printed, DTG printed or embroidered with the final Pines design.

Our 7oz pocket tee shirts are cut, sewn and sourced from 100% USA components. The yarn (Frontier Spinning) is knitted in North Carolina, and the material is bleached, dyed or scoured in Pennsylvania at Wolfe Dye & Bleach, then cut & sewn with thread (American & Efird), which is also made in the USA. It is a family owned business since 1950, and 100% union made.

Most of our garments are manufactured out of our highly accredited factories in Turkey, which is signed up to the Fairwear Foundation, Oeko-Tex 100 and the Soil Association. The cotton is sourced from the Aegean Region, located in the west of the country where there is a large initiative focusing on universal principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. The garments are then trucked across Europe, not flown, to reduce carbon emissions.

I then steam them, wrap them in recycled paper, pack them and stamp them all in my kitchen ready to be shipped. Distribution contracts are expensive, so I always ask customers to be patient with orders – this is a one-man operation!

Our heavyweight hoodies, crewnecks and trackies all come from Portugal, where our factories practice sustainable manufacturing and ethical trade always. They have earned multiple certifications in accordance with European trade laws including ISO9001, Reach compliant, Sedex responsible supply chains and Oeko-Tex standard 100.
